Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid season, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden championship following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt since that period of that year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in Halle in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent reactions on court had led observers to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, backed up by an better serve.

He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the last five games to take the lead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet saved four early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned the title with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
